Our Story

The African Women’s Workforce Initiative (AWWI) was launched in 2023 and is a talent pipeline that intends to transform Africa’s hospitality workforce. Throughout Africa, hospitality is seeing rapid growth, but hotels face a workforce insufficiency. Companies would like to employ women from marginalized communities, but don’t have the time and resources to train them. AWWI is designed to bridge this gap in order to bring underserved women into the formal economy.

Theory of Change

Empowering young women through education and training has a profound impact on their families and communities. On average, a young woman in employment supports 23 members of her household, creating a ripple effect that extends across generations. By investing in their future, we not only uplift individual lives but foster stronger, more resilient families. Together, we can create a lasting change that benefits everyone.
